dude I read that book years ago, I'll ruin the ending right now.

It turns out that light was on drugs and the deaths were actually dream/hulicinations.
He's like an idiot savant.
so every time he remembers who's gonna die, he would write it down, and Ryuk was a hullucination too.

He's actually in an insane asylum. in the end.
